I'm not kidding. I am so yearning to do that again. I know I can. And we can treat writers with dignity, pay them properly, and refuse all the bullshit that is killing these sites one by one.

I'm not even exaggerating. In meetings with money-people they'd accuse us of faking our Google Analytics, because the traffic was almost all coming in via visits to the front page.

We just built an audience that wanted to read our site, not had to be tricked into accidentally clicking on it.
