Remove political interference in planning all together. I feel for junior planners starting their career at a local government like this.

as an urban planner, is it not an innate desire, deep within you, that the #1 priority is that people should have a home to live in?!?!? i was in a forum with a bunch of fellow planners the other day and i was astounded as to how many had a NIMBY approach to planning.
Boroondara’s gentry-loving planners hide behind "Victoria in Future" population projections—but there's a catch: restrictive zoning shapes these numbers in a self-serving feedback loop.
Either they don’t get it, or they're deliberately misleading us. Neither inspires confidence.

You know Im truly doing my best to avoid consuming and thinking about news coming out the USA at the moment. But the thing is, its not possible. Every corner you turn there's some story or comment on Trump/Musk/Ukraine etc. its unavoidable and I hate it. Our future is uncertain and it freaking sucks
