Every Van Halen song sounds like the soundtrack to a dog on a skateboard wearing sunglasses.

The real revolution in Bob Dylan going electric at Newport in 1965 had to do with the length of his live shows. With the wood stove-powered Dylan, the coal fired Dylan, or the Dylan run on leaded gasoline, concerts could go only 20 minutes before the coughing drowned him out.

A quote I always remember this time of year from the giant consortium of retailers - “Hey - let’s all use price tags that are impossible to remove from items…and will leave a sticky, gummy mess.”

If all Rob Reiner had ever done was This Is Spinal Tap, he’d be a legend of comedy. But he gave us so, so much more. Just fucking gutted to hear the news tonight.

Dec 6th - Canada's National Day of Action & Remembrance on Violence against Women. This issue is not frozen in 1989 - it is ever present. A good and easy way to honour those 14 women is by calling out misogyny when you see it - especially if you’re a man among men. Do it.

@mpenn.bsky.social listened, for the first time in quite a while, to Mr. Hollywood Jr, 1947. That kind of gorgeous songwriting is a balm for these times. Thank you for your artistry.

I played my album release gig one year ago today. It was my plan to start gigging these new songs regularly…but cancer had other plans. As I continue to fight that disease, it’s still very high on my to do list.

So many amazing performances…but her comedic work in Sleeper, Play It Again Sam, Annie Hall and Love And Death are ABSOLUTE top tier, hall of fame stuff. RIP to a real great.

This Taschen two book set on the making of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is all play and no work. Just an amazing deep dive into a master’s masterpiece.

Now, five years after the collapse of her public image, it might be time to revisit DeGeneres’ case. Was her cancellation a product of a fleeting era when people spoke earnestly about “safe spaces” and “microaggressions” – a time when the left, not the right, was doing the canceling?
Ellen DeGeneres says she was ‘kicked out of show business.’ Is it time to welcome her back? | CNN
Five years after reports of a toxic workplace on her popular talk show derailed her career, Ellen DeGeneres is living quietly in England – and weighing a comeback.

I had the good fortune and honour of working with Graham Greene. He was generous and wonderful. He led by example, and taught those around him the valuable lesson of doing it as well as you can if you're going to bother doing it at all. A great lesson from a great actor. RIP

HUGE legal victory: @cycletoronto.bsky.social has won its Charter challenge of the Ford government's legislation requiring removal of Toronto bike lanes! Justice Schabas ruled that the law puts cyclists at increased risk of harm and death which engages the right to life and security of the person.

I have never understood the big deal about the film Heat. Yes, the diner scene is amazing, with two acting legends squaring off against each other for the first time, but otherwise, I don't think Burt Reynolds or Peter MacNicol are that great in it.
