The news coming out of the Your Party conference are giving me flashbacks to the climate project I used to work on, where everybody refused to work with each other, very few people achieved anything of any note, and everybody went around saying it was everybody else's fault

Two types of weird spam I increasingly get through my contact page:

✨ AI-mangled versions of my own book blurbs
✨ Invites to participate in something slightly scammy-sounding called 'P English Literature'

Lads lads lads lads ....

You can get my books in Truman Books Farsley, Bookshop on the Square Otley, Holdfast Books Leeds, and probably many more that I'm not aware of!!

These shops all also sell GREAT stocking filler gifts like stationery, plants, other books, etc, so... you know what to do
Black Friday reminder: You can support independent bookstores and get great deals without lining the pockets of billionaires 😌

Found out this week that apparently the thumbs up emoji 👍 is apparently perceived as being a sarcastic 👍 "I don't care" 👍 message

Thought about the number of times when I've used it on the work Teams chat, unwittingly revealing to my colleagues that 👍 I can't be arsed 👍 with Teams 👍

"milky drinks tax" definitely sounds like something you'd read about in Viz

The other really stupid thing I did today was taking my lunch out of the fridge and then leaving it on the side, whilst I went out to work, leaving the heating on all day 👍

Contemplating watching The Apprentice (Donald Trump biopic) instead, but I'm off work sick today, and I'm prevaricating over whether watching something about the Orange Goon will make me feel worse

Why does Netflix just totally randomly have difficulty playing certain titles? yesterday wouldn't play Friday Night Dinner, today it will. Today won't play Ex Machina. Don't say 'it is because your telly is so ancient'

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who sent good wishes for this handsome doofus a couple of weeks ago. Sadly, we had to let him go, at the grand old age of 16. Thanks to everybody who sent him good wishes and virtual skritches, we appreciated each and every one.

A baked potato and pasta isn't exactly 'proper food', is it? And yet that's 1000% what I'm having for tea later, so somehow it must qualify as food, perhaps

HELP ME FIND MY GLOVES. Last year I knitted a pair of lovely warm gloves, wore them all winter, and now can't find them. They are NOT:

🧥 in pockets of 'Big Coat'
🥼 in pockets of second favourite 'Big Coat'
👜 In my work bag
👜 in my other bag
🗃️ in the drawer of 'wintery things'
🚗 in the car

Black friday has become so commercial, no one remembers the real story of Jesus waiting outside the Holy Sepulchre for three nights to get 40% off a Breville deep fill sandwich toaster.

Starting to think cinemas should issue 'film comprehension certificates', with special tiered screenings for people who don't understand films. These could be paused every ten minutes, for them to ask questions such as: 'who's that?' 'where is all this happening?' 'what year is this?', etc

I love how the Male Hipster Look du jour is to look like an outsized garden gnome. Large beard, fisherman's hat, cosy jumper.

Saw a guy earlier on today and had to bite my tongue from asking him where his fishing rod was

Driving home the other day. Passed a plumber-style van emblazoned with advertising for "UI / UX and Web Design!"

thought, wow, that's cool, their business must be doing well if they've got a van.

Then a minute later: why would a web design company need a van. A VAN?!!!
