One thing worth noting is that GW pulled very heavily from WW1 and WW2 for their designs. You can pretty much look at any design in imperial guard and find a real life counterpart (excluding obvious stuff like the walkers).

You can get a cheap texture roller and some polymer clay instead. Cheaper than buying bases. Used and baked coffee grounds make super realistic dirt. And lastly, you can avoid that sunken foot issue by just gluing some pieces of thin plasticard under the feet.

Goonhammer has a tendency to see one thing and then drill into it super hard before deciding if the whole thing is good or bad. You can see that thinking shine through in a bunch of their little mech tier list/review things.

If you're going to the bigger base you could just glue the current base to it and then use putty to form a small hill around it to hide the first base.

It's not an ARG per se. GW only writes things to sell plastic. That means they don't put the greatest effort into making sure everything is coherent. So they're too lazy to make sure the writing is consistent. *Stares at the Terminus Decree*

You can see it with some of the benches in the teaser images for the upcoming game. I doubt it's intentional. Some artist probably just referenced pictures of benches without even realizing what they were modeling.

That's because these people have zero media literacy and can't see past base level aesthetics. There's an unsettling amount of people who actually think that the Imperium is the good faction. People on sites like imgur and reddit will get very upsetti spaghetti if you imply that it's just fascism.

I think just decent model kits would be the way to go. Funkos look bad and made extra cheaply before they get dumped in a land fill.
