New, from me:
America is no longer a functioning democracy. It is a competitive authoritarian system, hurtling rapidly toward authoritarianism.
This was a hard piece to write but we can't move forward if we don’t acknowledge where we are.

I wrote something about free speech.

It draws on my last couple of years field-working coproduction and other ways of integrating lived experience into policy. I've learnt a lot about listening, and I think others could too, especially free speech warriors.

I just came across this working paper by Charles Manski: 'What is the general welfare? Welfare economic perspectives'. It's a jolly good read for anyone interested in the use of preferences data in public policy.

Thread gives the 20 talks at yesterday's economics, psychology & policy workshop in Dublin. 17th time we have done it & the best. Great to see sustained & embedded behavioral research across climate change, antimicrobial resistance, financial regulation, inclusive design, admin burden, & others

What an incredible piece from Patrick Fealey, an award-winning journalist and writer, who became homeless last year. I often think about how wide the gaps are in Britain's social security net compared with Germany's. But America is truly in a different league.

Gifted link to my piece in the NY Times about Trump's plausible plan to convert the administrative state into the authoritarian state.
1. More MAGA appointees
2. Gut civil service protections
3. Hire govt lawyers who will enable Trump's authoritarian tendencies
