So it has come to this. I have read countless similar statements regarding other countries over my 25 year career in fed stats. This is a watershed moment for US Data Infrastructure. Sad.
The International Statistical Institute released a statement on Concerns Regarding U.S. Federal Statistics. This stems from a proposal changing the way US GDP is calculated among other actions threatening the independence of federal statistical agencies.

This is a tremendous loss.
As part of the HHS reorganization, all 17 staff who worked on the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), which tracked drug use and mental health in the US for over 50 years, were terminated yesterday. A significant blow to the US Data Infrastructure.
