I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Well, Hill-Murray did beat Duluth East in the 1991 state boys hockey finals (final year of one-class championship) and some of us (me) still harbor a grudge, so...local connection.

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

Ok, major caveat that I *have not been there* since it reopened with new owners, not the Malt Shop on 50th and Lyndale has a cheeseburger for $7.75 (double $9.95).

Health care is a collective cost. Virtually *no one* pays for health care on their own. And we're all paying for other people's care in one way or another. In the U.S., we just choose to pay in the stupidest possible way.

Also, when an insured person goes to the hospital, who pays? Everyone who is also insured by that insurer! And if it's employer-sponsored, everyone else who's employed by that employer!

Fun fact: Even if federal money *was* being spent on Medicaid coverage for undocumented immigrants (it isn’t), the money wouldn’t be “going to illegal aliens.”

It would be going to *healthcare providers*…ie, hospitals, doctors, etc.

Medicaid enrollees don’t receive the money.

REPORTER: US law already prohibits giving healthcare to illegal immigrants

LEAVITT: Are you denying that Medicaid money has never gone to illegal aliens?

Sanders: These projects have been appropriated. They were signed by a president. It is illegal to rescind them. And to say to people in Vermont, in New York and California, oh, you didn't vote for Donald Trump, we're going to take away funding that was supposed to go to your state… illegal

Thanks for sharing...I had verve read before, and it is so good. I'm somewhat comforted by the conclusion that kind, happy people don't go Nazi. I like to think that describes a lot of the people I know.

CNBC: "Very disappointing. It's a weak number. This is private sector jobs for September. The total comes in -32,000. And that was a surprise because economists were looking for an increase of 51,000. Also, the revision was not good. August now showing -3,000 compared to the initial read of 54,000"

The president just gathered the highest ranking officers in the military to tell them that he may order them to kill American citizens -- and that they better follow his orders. All in response to a series of crises that have no basis in reality.

I don't know how to yell any louder.

In a sane country with competent leadership, the 50 highest-ranking Democrats would call a press conference to denounce what just happened as a threat to the republic and demand Trump's immediate impeachment and removal from office.

I don't know he could make his intentions more clear.

Republicans run the White House, Congress and Supreme Court on the principle that the only role Dems can play is bailing the GOP out from facing the consequences of their own actions.

They expect Dems to clean up after them and save them from voters’ blame, and sadly some Dems want to do just that.

At this point, any Democrat who votes to keep this government open without extracting very serious concessions — RFK’s resignation, ICE rollback, Epstein Files release, etc — will absolutely face a primary challenger who will set fundraising records.

Actual White House quote: “go fuck yourself.”

Its not being some pearl clutching prude to ask whether this is really how most Americans want their kids to see the seat of our government behave. www.politico.com/news/2025/09...

There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

Today, the UN officially designated Israel’s assault on Gaza as a genocide.

As a party to the Genocide Convention, the U.S. has a legal obligation to obey our own laws, stop weapons sales to Israel, and demand a permanent ceasefire.

End the genocide. Ceasefire now.
257. The Commission recommends that all Member States:
(a) Employ all means reasonably available to them to prevent the commission of genocide in the Gaza Strip;
(b) Cease the transfer of arms and other equipment or items, including jet fuel, to the State of Israel or third States where there is reason to suspect their use in military operations that have involved or could involve the commission of genocide;
(c) Ensure individuals and corporations in their territories and within their jurisdiction are not involved in the commission of genocide, aiding and assisting the commission of genocide or incitement to commit genocide and investigate and prosecute those who may be implicated in these crimes under international law;
(d) Facilitate the investigations and domestic proceedings and take action (including imposing sanctions) against the State of Israel and against individuals or corporations that are involved in or facilitating the commission of genocide or incitement to commit genocide;
(e) Cooperate with the investigation of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
258. The Commission recommends that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court:
(a) Examine, within its continuing investigation in the Situation in the State of Palestine, the crime of genocide for amendment to existing arrest warrants and addition to future application for arrest warrants;
(b) Examine the involvement of officials mentioned in this report for inclusion as those most responsible for international crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territory.
