A. In today's email, "take a look at the 2026 BMW X7 ALPINA XB7 for the low, low price of $164,575"

B. The vibes of most modern high-end SUVs, esp. BMWs.

Points for creativity, but pigeons and Canada geese often begin to ignore counter-measures once they learn they're harmless.

TIL about the origins of Paleo Bro.

... and here we are 40 or 30 years later.

The market HATES consumer packaged goods right now, Conagra stock is at a 12-year low, and here's a little Q&A between Wall St analyst (a VP, whoohoo!) and CFO & CEO about exiting a large flour milling JV that has been doing fine. Decisions, decisions...

New egg price fixing lawsuit just dropped.

If this isn't ambulance chasing, sunshine will be good b/c of the 2022-25 increases compared to other outbreaks.

Of note: Two of the private egg price info services (one reporting, one auction) are listed as co-defendants.

Apropos of nothing, two recent Netflix views:

👍 Train Dreams. Highly rated, some awards. Different, but I liked it a lot.

👎 The A-Team (the 2010 film). Brain candy. Nonsense. Half of it made on a computer. Liam Neeson said it was confusing and he was a co-star.

Another important govt report that will have not just one, but a two-month data gap, perhaps forever.

Chicken is only our most-consumed meat, and eggs have been in the inflation headlines for four years. 😠

Great moments in marketing:

"Hey, Bob. You know all that crap we used to practically give away to pet food companies? Let's call it Primal Blend, price it higher than ground beef and sell it to the Paleo Bros."

I think the author is missing the point. It's not the color it's the "Fair Isle yoke" that looks like it belongs on Golden Girls.

Not breaking news - the filing was close to a week ago, but it's big news in agriculture. That's a lot of money in what is supposed to be a low margin, fairly low risk business.

@maaronweber.bsky.social Remember this? I once read that many to-the-frame rails restorations are a labor of love because they only pay off with certain vehicles. This might be one of those cases. Sold for $35K.

In my day, we climbed rickety, off-center scissor lifts high into the winter air and froze our fingers hanging Christmas decorations while traffic buzzed below us. And we liked it! We loved it!

(and... no orange cones, flashing lights on the truck and maybe only one "watcher" rather than 2 or 3)
#OnThisDay Nov 22, 1938: Christmas decorations go up along Nicollet Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. At the time it was the busiest shopping street between Chicago and LA. The Great Northern Railway station can be seen in the far distance.

Public Storage: Economic indicator? Seasonal weakness? I don't know but the "Baby, come back" email was interesting. I terminated my first-ever storage contract with them in Feb b/c they raised the price significantly every four months and now they're offering a $20 lock and a 1-yr fixed price.

MN Public Radio classical station has an "on this day" segment with names of notable performers and composers. Near the end the host slides this one in "and today is also the 40th birthday of Carly Rae Jensen, so call her, maybe"

Perfect delivery. 👍🙂

Don't mess with Big Ag in South Dakota or elsewhere. They deserve the right to pollute with near impunity b/c they're special. Oh, and bailouts (dairy story) b/c GOP/MAGA are loathe to come to the table on sensible immigration policy for *their* workers.

Big news from SPAMTOWN USA. No in-person annual meeting this year, gotta' pick up the gift box the following morning at the SPAM Museum. Probably don't want to face angry retirees in a company town and have to explain why their stock has cratered.

@barchart.com Feedback: You raised prices 17% since last renewal. Steep yr over yr but you've added features and if it stays at that level, fine. What's not OK is the false advertising that Premium is ad-free. Recently there is a "Plus 500" gambling firm ad hovering on my screen. Get rid of that.
