These are the kinds of people that used to be fleeced by the Franklin Mint and other firms with their "limited edition" collectible crap advertised in inserts of the Sunday paper.

Mystery man is Del Crandall.

11-time All Star, winning World Series team, one wife, 7 kids, lived in Milwaukee - presumably enjoying large quantities of beer, cheese, sausage and polka - died in sunny Calif (2021) age 91. Here's to you Del, a life well lived. 🙂

This is nuts. The USDA is publishing numerous egg reports every day and even end of week analysis & commentary. One or two price reports/wk would be fine. There are also private price reporters.

Somehow this is more important than CPI and COLA?

BofA: “News broke yesterday that the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is calling furloughed workers to publish the September CPI report before month-end. One potential motivation behind this decision could be the Social Security cost of living adjustment, which is based on 3Q inflation data.”

Overnight, the odds of Venezuelan María Corina Machado winning the prize exploded. An hour before the prize was announced, there was a 69% chance that she would win, according to Polymarkets.

For comparison, until 12:35 a.m. on Friday, Machado had less than 4% chance of winning:

That's a good "in my day... we were so poor we couldn't afford a pack of baseball cards and cardboard "gum" so we had to collect players from tea and hostess snack boxes."

If you've got it, let me know, and if you'd like I will mail* you the "Salada Tea and Junket Brand Dessert" coin so you can "save and trade 63 all-star baseball coins"

*then I'll burn the address like they do in the CIA. The photo in the one I have is better but it does have nicks in the red border

No, although they both lived into their early 90s.

The mystery player (career 1949-1966) was a big name in the city that was the setting for "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley" and if @ianberry.bsky.social or @afarmerinohio.bsky.social don't get this they should be sent down to the farm team.

Baseball fans: W/o cheating using image look-up, anyone recognize this handsome man?

I found this "coin" in my grandfather's real coin boxes along w/ a gem from the Rural Electric System w/ "Willie Wirehand" on other side. "Thank a farmer" should be "Thank FDR because we can read at night" ;-)

Word is bond.

And if that's an archaic concept when big dollars are at stake, write better contracts, beeyatch!

VG signed LNG contracts with customers and then refused to honor them after the war in Ukraine b/c spot prices were so high. This case could cost it a billion dollars, but other customers have also sued.

VG stock down 10% in after hours trading.

More soybean news!

Dear @mprnews.org, In the caption the word is "harvested" (cut and combined will work; culled does not). You're in St Paul, not NYC. You're 20 mins from soybeans. ;-)

"Paul Freeman's combine sits amid his already culled soybean fields"

How much would a bailout package help Minnesota soybean producers?
The Trump administration is considering a massive bailout package for farmers hurt by its trade war, but farm subsidies may not provide lasting relief.

Closing half their stores. Newsworthy, I think, because their customer is likely middle class to upper middle class and above Decline of hunting & fishing? Tariffs (mentioned in article)? Something else?

What do Warren Buffet and option sellers (no, not THAT bozo option seller in Tampa... IYKYK) have in common?

They both get inspiration from Guns N' Roses' "Patience"

(Berkshire bought a billion+ of UNH at $311 in May. It's now $375) Yeah... yeah... 🤘 🚀☠️

What a guy! Every politician over age 70 or 75 should be like Craig: retire and find something meaningful to do that helps others.

Or curl up and die in front of "The Price is Right" if that's their cup of tea, as long as they're out office.

The average age of moving out of home varies widely across Europe. These differences are partly cultural and partly financial in nature. I for one am keen to kick my beloved children out of home by say 20. They are still very young but one must have goals in life 😉 🥾
