ICE seems to get completely flummoxed when they’re being yelled at by white men over 35. They kind of put their heads down and shuffle their feet. It’s like their kryptonite.

Not more than a little disappointed in you @governorwalz.mn.gov

We could've had the MN National Guard helping protect schools and daycares, but they're called up for a pretty peaceful looking protest march around downtown Minneapolis? One that sprung up as counter against far-right anti-islamists?
Live updates: The Minnesota National Guard has been mobilized and will be "staging to support local law enforcement and emergency management agencies." Personnel were called up to active duty for at least 72 hours as of last night.
Live: Counterprotesters chase off Jake Lang’s group from downtown Minneapolis
Hundreds of counterprotesters outnumbered the conservative influencer’s supporters protesting Islam on Saturday.

I didn’t know we had flutes and honks. I quite like this, it makes us sound like angry geese which feels very right
it's also just a wild accent to hear people get angry in. weirder than hearing a swiss german have a meltdown. just all these little flutes and honks on top of the rage

During Covid every level of govt was able to support businesses that had to close. Now much of the $ came from feds. However, off the top of my head, the city, county, and state could:
-suspend payments of sales tax, liquor licenses
-offer zero or low interest loans

Hey, is it OK if I repost some photos of Minneapolis in normal times?

Yes, the campaign attacking this work is clearly mostly inauthentic accounts. These kinds of swarms are common on Twitter. Never experienced it here on Bluesky before.

The more I read those critics the more I think they are GOP/ Russian trolls. Who ever they are the agenda seems to dissuade us from creating any sense of unity. And to instil a sense of distrust of any dem leader. This approach worked in 2024. They’re doing it again. I say ignore and block.

Threw his ~Leica~
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

So friends, I (a professional political consultant) launched a campaign to divert resources from Minnesotans with dire and immediate needs to a political organization that will hopefully use that money to pay me consulting fees. I am definitely the good guy here.

Holy cow! A Naomi Kritzer / Will Stancil crossover episode …
I went on a ride along with Will today because I was trying to understand how a mobile patrol works. If you've ever fantasized about being either Spider-Man or Ned Leeds I would recommend going to Defend612 to volunteer. (Spider-Man: patrol. Ned Leeds: dispatch/notetaking/plate checks.)
I don’t want to jinx anything, but ICE presence in South Minneapolis has been MASSIVELY down the last two days, and also far less militarized. Very few masks and uniforms, and efforts to disguise their vehicles. Community watch has been suffocating them, I think.

I don't want ICE to leave Minnesota. I want them not to exist at all.

No community deserves what is happening to our state.

Please, if you live somewhere else, know that you will be next unless we shut this whole thing down.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.
Breaking news: The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation alleging that they are impeding federal law enforcement officers’ abilities to do their jobs in the state.

If there is one lesson we should have learned in the first two weeks of the Trump administration, it's that appeasement will teach them that you won't fight back.

Following the vandalism of at least 11 government vehicles or rentals driven by federal law enforcement at a hotel in Eagan, Minnesota last night, it's safe to say—you don't want to stay at a hotel that hosts ICE, or even park your vehicle there. You don't want to host them at your hotel, either.
