Intense but fun day as the (almost) full editing team for 'the @ehbea.bsky.social textbook' met to go through the entire book post 'user' peer review. Glad to say we've got some amazing reviewers in @durhampsych.bsky.social - I'll never write student-facing material without their input again!

Our paper "A fragmented field" has just been accepted at AMPPS. We find it's not just you, psychology is really getting more confusing (construct and measure fragmentation is rising).
We updated the preprint with the (substantial) revision, please check it out.

Treemap showing measurement fragmentation across subfields in psychology. Hill-Shannon Diversity 𝐷=1626.05 How often measures in the APA PsycTESTS database are (re)used according to the APA PsycInfo database: rarely, the majority are never reused. Our fragmentation index (Hill-Shannon diversity) over time across subdisciplines shows fragmentation rising.

If you have a hunter-gatherer related paper sitting in your file-drawer with excellent methods but a 'null' finding, please consider the Journal of Hunter-Gatherer Research.

Submission instructions are on our website:

Keep calling for a better publishing model. Keep pushing for preprints, preregs, replications. Keep publishing 'null' findings as reviewers and editors. Push for open data and celebrate authors who have the integrity to make retractions. Keep pushing to improve statistical literacy.

As grant money starts drying up, it's more important than ever not to waste it on paying publishers' open access "article processing fees" when we can host PDFs for free. Tom Morgan and I wrote a paper on this, forthcoming at Science and Public Policy. Accepted draft here: osf.io/preprints/os...
