I feel the need to say this, to be clear on my position, I think The Last Jedi is really good, the way people behaved online abhorrent, the way Lucasfilm caved to trolls pathetic, but Johnson’s own scripts are even more fun & surprising than his fun & surprising Star Wars film

I’m sure I would have loved any future Star Wars films Johnson made too, but having seen Brick and Looper, and now Benoit Blanc, I’m so glad he’s free of franchise restraints to make his own films. He’s got such a unique, smart voice that would be ultimately wasted if he only did someone else’s IP
