A reminder - last March, republicans promised to restore $1.1B in funding to DC in exchange for funding the government, and Mike Johnson never took it up in the House.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

I want a 50 state protest to replace Schumer now. His faux anger on the floor. Inadequate bastard he is and they defied the majority of Americans tonight. We have to inspire everyone on our own and they keep making it harder!

The centrists in the Senate Democratic caucus saw that the country was rallying to the party in the 2025 elections and resolved that they would do anything they could to kill that momentum.

Tonight was a very bad night.

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

Dems: cave on Big Beautiful Bill

Dems: Your donation will save America!

Dems: Cave again, risking ACA

Or… These Democrats voted to make healthcare inaccessible to millions of Americans, set emergency rooms up to be overrun and fail, and to leave children without doctors. @rosen.senate.gov @hassan.senate.gov

This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.

I voted Hillary, Joe & Kamala - enthusiastically. I always called myself a liberal democrat, not a progressive. But tonight, the @democrats.org @democrats.senate.gov was the last straw in a series of concerning things. We need new leaders. So many Senators need to go. I’ve seen enough. #healthcare

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Trump is preparing to declare victory thanks to @democrats.senate.gov and @schumer.senate.gov, who also recently voted for Cuomo. I’ve been supportive and defended him in the past, but I won’t defend the vote for Cuomo or a capitulation to Trump and abandonment of Americans who need healthcare.

If I were @schumer.senate.gov, I would not agree to help Republicans fund this regime on the "promise" of an ACA vote at a later date. It didn't work the last time when they promised to fund DC. It won't work this time either. The House won't touch it.
