Rage. @npr.org this morning focused on Padilla's immigrant family. It is more relevant he is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship & Border Safety - oversight of the immigration part of Homeland Sec is literally his job. Also no mention of what she said?

My 83 yr old neighbor had to list friends as emergency contacts because she knows her family wouldn't drive into Philly EVEN IF SHE HAD AN EMERGENCY AND NEEDED THEM.
We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

An friend of mine was hit by a car & killed at Broad & Walnut at 1pm, two weeks ago today. I just found out. No mention of a pedestrian death in the very center of the city in any news that I found (official or social). She was in her 70s & lovely and I will miss her. #VisionZero #philadelphia
