I never got not going lesser evil here. It was abundantly clear what was at stake & who was gonna pay for ppl prioritizing moral hygiene over preventing *this*. And it's not like u could make the argument the bigger evil for the US was somehow the lesser for any part of the world. Just my 2 🇪🇺 cents.

I would have thought it means that had this particular girl not been perceived as Jewish by the Nazis, they wouldn't have been after her. That it was her Jewishness that had the Nazis want to see her dead. Then again, I'm not a native speaker and also may be missing the bigger picture here.

I don't get that point at all. Of course the Nazis persecuted people for their (ascribed) Jewishness. Why else did they target Anne Frank and leave her non-Jewish classmates alone? I don't see how pointing that out entails postulating an "essential qualiy of Jewishness that invites antisemitism".

Kickl's speech: the usual (which, at this point, includes the "identitarian" call for "rEmiGRatIOn"), plus a heavy focus on badmouthing the very idea of compromise (without which, of course, there is no liberal democracy). He's not done yet, but I have some grocery shopping to do. Tuning out now.

Ist das eine neue Qualität? Nicht wirklich. Handshakes mit Sellner gab es bisher eher hinter der Kamera als davor, aber nachdem hochrangige Freiheitliche inzwischen bei AUF1 u.a. rechtsextremen Parallelmedien ein- & ausgehen, warum nicht auch öffentlich den Gleichklang mit Sellner zelebrieren... 3/3
