Have no doubt about it, the administration's EO to dismantle the department of education will harm the most vulnerable students and communities. There is a reason for a federal civil rights education agency.
The Trump admin can’t shut down the Department of Education outright—that would require an act of Congress. But they’re determined to gut it as much as possible, with consequences that could be devastating for students and families.

Quick thread on the now-joined fight to save the Department of Education from closure.

Recent polling from @newamerica.org found that 55% of Americans oppose closing the Department of Education. They're right to oppose its closure--closing or dismantling ED will negatively impact millions of students and families. We shared how on @tcfdotorg.bsky.social.

However much carceral reality TV shows create awareness around prison conditions, they do so in a way that reinforces the need for prisons rather than advocating for solutions to address the root causes of incarceration, writes Vidal Guzman of the #AIRS campaign. inquest.org/punishment-tv/

We are fighting to end carceral reality TV—including shows such as ‘60 Days In’—because no one should profit from punishment.
