Carney:

"In a time of rising populism and ethnic nationalism, Canada can show how diversity is a strength, not a weakness... Canada can't solve all the world's problems. But we can show that another way is possible. That the arc of history isn't destined to be warped toward authoritarianism".

Trump on NATO:

"The problem with NATO is that we'll be there for them 100% but I'm not sure that they'd be there for us, if we gave them the call".

We did get the call on 9/11. 26 NATO members sent troops to defend the US. Hundreds died doing so. It was the only time Article 5 has been activated.

At the World Economic Forum, I met with business leaders from across sectors and nations who want to build with us.

As great powers abandon rules and values for their own interests, middle powers like Canada have a choice: compete with each other for favour or act together with impact.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Commentary: The U.K. should ask for more than increased trade and investment for okaying China's massive London embassy; it should ask for the release of its British citizen.
Fair trade: Jimmy Lai’s freedom for China’s very big U.K. Embassy
China will take over the Royal Mint building next to the historic Tower of London and spend over $1 billion building out its largest embassy in Europe.

Few people have the platform and the willing to take a principled stand, cut through the noise, and speak truth to power.

The conflict being forced now will be used as the basis of the next, and so on.

There is always another option.

Thank you #MarkCarney.

A trade deficit doesn’t mean the U.S. is losing money. It simply means foreigners are sending the U.S. more goods than the U.S. is sending them. Americans get cheap goods, and sell foreigners financial assets, like bonds and tech company stocks. An economist explains: buff.ly/hCNvBzc

Why do we rarely elect leaders who have at least historically shown empathy? codify cabinet experience. Whatever your feelings re Keir Starmer, he was a top Human Rights lawyer. I feel like some form of caring about people/humanity, should be requirement, no?

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

If you know anyone who is impacted, please help them get online to get their benefits approved
