Caught a little of the new tv drama prequel to the condor heros. The East & West arc is good enough to watch.
They’re using different directors for each of the prequel arcs but sticking to the same cast, which is such an interesting idea…

So I always knew there’s lots of fics for emperor Qin Shi Huang (aka the man who forced China into unity and standardization) and his mentor & eventual first minister Li Si. Then I came across a fic for ALL (ok not all but many) of the Qin kings and their respective first minister (and one general).

Winter begonia novel clocks a total of 131 chapters at 850k words. There’s a lot of colloquial terms and jargon, so there’s added complexity. I don’t have good hopes for an official translation that I can recommend to friends.
The question is then, should I bother? looks to be a 2-3 yr investment.

I haven’t gotten into reading danmei but I ended up liking winter begonia hmm. maybe it is well written enough, backed by firsthand research too, that I can afford to say it is a novel proper? Drama fans are going to get a rude awakening if they read the original before it’s censored to blandness.

Still thinking about how awesome Winter Begonia (the novel) turns out to be. The drama is meh, I agree with the top YouTube commenter in ep5 - the braised trotter is the best actor amongst them. But I do see why they picked it up for adaptation with this cast - the plot is substantial enough.

The story of Nezha usually refers to the Ming Dynasty novel Feng Shen Bang that drew material from earlier mythologies. Sometimes I think, isn’t it just like Avengers? So imagine, give it 400 years and they’re making movies on Loki, but on his Avengers franchise plots.

Scanning through my ebook borrowing / kindle buying record and realizing I’ve been almost reading all female writers/ manga artists the past three years. It isn’t a conscientious choice but I’m glad it worked out like that.

Attempting to read Tian Guan Ci Fu 天官赐福 because a whole group of school friends had asked me to..but zoomed past chpt 20 and I’m still not getting it… does it get better?!?! Like, this is a wide margin because any other works I’d have stopped if nothing catches in the first 10min of scanning through

Realise I don’t know enough to identify the type of raptor that CLAMP used as reference to draw Seishiro’s shikigami… so I’m just gonna assume Seishiro keeps his shikigami in hawk form because it’s easier for surveillance in urban cities…

Re-reading Xvol16 I am inclined to say that Hokuto is even further off than Seishiro in terms of mental (un)wellbeing. She is outright suicidal and the first one to act on it (followed by Seishiro who locks Subaru out of this option with his eye).

that feeling of testing different dialogues to ease into a character’s voice… it’s really strange for this ship esp because I’ve read TB so long ago and reread it a few times since covid, but I’ve never written fanfics for it.
