A fan of Star Trek since it was a show, not a franchise.

Mostly harmless.
Watched #StarTrek "Devil in the Dark" and noticed something:

Kirk and Spock come to a fork in the cave. Kirk says "you go left, I'll go right."

He then proceeds into the left tunnel. Spock stares after him, looking confused.

This is the best view I've found so far showing Jimmy Doohan's injured hand. They usually tried to keep it off screen.

Ok, is this guy going to get a name?

Memory Alpha says it's Ensign Gamble, but he hasn't been named on-screen yet.

To all of you who found faults in #StarTrekSNW "A Space Adventure Hour", I hear you. You're right.

And let's not discuss the horrible computer architecture.

In the 90's, we'd get 1-2 silly episodes per 24 episode season. Now we're getting 3-4 out of 10.

But at this time, I NEED some silly.

I've come up with a possible explanation for why Dr. M'Benga from #StarTrekSNW looks at least ten years older than he does ten years later in #StarTrekTOS:

Joseph has a nephew who is currently doing an internship on Vulcan.

You heard it here first.

After watching #StarTrekSNW "Hegemony, Part II", I have to ask: Did Melissa Navia have some tense contact negotiations?

#StarTrekTOS "Miri" on #AllStarTrek . . .

Everyone left their communicator in the lab?

Nobody stayed to keep an eye on things?

After days without contact with the landing party, nobody on the ship beams down?

Maybe just beam down a communicator?

A many of us know, the #StarTrekTOS episode "Assignment: Earth" was intended as a backdoor pilot for a series following Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln.

I just had the thought that Asimov's story "Spell My Name with an S" would have been a good episode

My #StarTrekENT re-watch has gotten to the Xindi arc.

I have never understood why they tested their "small" weapon on earth. Why didn't they test it on something local? Then surprise us with the big gun.

Human problem solved.

My wish list for #FirstContactDay (April 5):
1) release date for #StarTrekSNW
2) announcement of #StarTrekProdigy season three
3) teaser video for #StarFleetAcademy
4) green light for #StarTrekLegacy

Holodeck matter cannot be removed...except for Moriarty's drawing of the Enterprise!

I just watched "The Big Goodbye" on #AllStarTrek.

Is there any episode that more often violates the rule that Data cannot use contractions?

Maybe "Time's Arrow, " where he speaks French (a language in which contractions are required).

Did they miss an opportunity in the #StarTrekLDS finale to settle whether or not the destruction of the Enterprise-E was REALLY Worf's fault?

I think about this old (TAS era?) #StarTrek comic book/ record set surprisingly often.

M'Ress is the hero of this one. IIRC there's some alien who doesn't appreciate the Enterprise's diverse crew.

But if there hasn't been a Caitan on board, everybody would have been in trouble.

Just watched "Requiem for Methuselah" on #AllStarTrek. I'm always impressed with Louise Sorel's performance as Rayna. Through most of the episode, she sits squarely in the "uncanny valley" (50 years before the term was coined), and then she emerges. "Nobody orders me!"

I love #StarTrek, but...

Am I the only one who shudders whenever they talk about a "subroutine"?

I haven't used that word since I worked in Fortran.

Sure, it could come back in a century or two, but it feels like an English major truing to explain computers in the 70's. (Which it probably was)

Just watched "That which Survives" on #AllStarTrek. I think we have an instance of a hand double for James Doohan, who lost a finger on his right hand on D-Day.

What do you think?

I love #StarTrek. But the shows' understanding of orbital dynamics is...lacking.

1: Orbits don't decay that quickly. Sputnik I (mankind's first satellite) flew for 3 months before re-entering. Seeing the Galileo or Enterprise start burning up as soon as the engines shut down burns me up.

My suggestion for #AllStarTrek on #Handitv : every 3-6 months, reorder the various #StarTrek shows. I've got #TOS and #TNG pretty well memorized.

Who's with me?

#StarTrek has a recurring theme of aging characters for one reason or another. A challenge for the makeup department. Let's see how they did:

DAX: Nerys! You really should come with me to see this!

KIRA: Bajor has five moons. I've seen enough eclipses, thank you.

DAX: It's different on earth. Their moon and
sun have nearly identical angular size. The corona is visible! Naturally! In all my lives, I've never seen anything like it

#StarTrek has often presented us with ideas that society was, at the time, just beginning to deal with.. usually with a twist to make it a little easier to deal with.

It was a few years too early, but it would have been interesting if all joined Trill used "they/ them" pronouns.

Regarding the #StarTrekTNG "Boobytrap" . . . If the thrusters worked, why didn't they just use them from the beginning?
March 8, 2024 at 11:48 PM
Watched "Deja Q" last night on #StarTrekTNG. A good episode, but i have a bit to pick:

In trying to correct the orbit of the Bre'el IV moon, LaForge tries to push it at perigee. That wouldn't work. They'd need to add velocity at apogee to get it back in a high, circular orbit.
