Laughing at stupid questions is the appropriate reaction to them and more politicians should respond that way
cafedujord.bsky.social
Normalize politicians who laugh at and refuse to entertain plainly idiotic questions from the press, imo

The reporter's claim that a Democratic contender for Governor of California needs Trump supporters to win an election is utterly laughable, so Porter's reaction (laughing) was absolutely correct here

Someone who used to work with Katie Porter sent me this clip from a train wreck interview with her and said “now imagine what she’s like when there aren’t cameras around.”

The increase in trips by Clipper BayPass holders on BART is really encouraging.

Massive increases in trips at San Francisco State and UC Berkeley in September 2025.

Ah, another room showcasing the diversity of San Francisco sharing their concerns about the Family Zoning Plan
Mayor Lurie at POPS speaking about the Family Zoning Plan, a sea of older folks from the looks of it

Pretty incredible own goal by liberal institutions and many Democratic electeds to crush the exact type of protests in 2024 that would’ve been the most effective way to slow or stop ICE incursions into American cities in 2025

Sometimes the internet isn't real life, but other times, it absolutely is!

Hearing @connoreatspants.bsky.social say "I don't know what this is, but they're telling me you have to talk about SB79" is easily one of the top 10 funniest moments I've had working on this bill. What in the world, man.
cafedujord.bsky.social
Relatedly, I cannot believe a bunch of YIMBYs managed to get a Twitch streamer to ask Newsom live about SB79 by spamming the chat about it.

Never stop posting, folks!

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social on #SB79 just now in his Twitch conversation with @connoreatspants.bsky.social: "It’s on my desk & I will be reviewing it on its merits. It’s really important housing legislation, and I recognize how important it is."

Folks: keep calling + urging him to sign! (916) 445-2841

This is over the School Street project, right? Some of these towns will genuinely end up bankrupting themselves via litigation, and it feels like that's absolutely going to happen to Fairfax.
cafedujord.bsky.social
The hyperbole here is absolutely incredible by the way. The "monstrosity" in question that "clashes with the city's heart and soul?"

A 6 story apartment building.

Beyond parody.

Once again, state housing laws get the goods in California!

Motion passes! The Parkline Project will move forward. 800+ new multifamily homes coming soon (well, in like ~5 years when all is said and done) to a Menlo Park near you!
cafedujord.bsky.social
Alright folks, we're finally voting! The motion is very long, and it appears they've added in the dark sky and bird safe glass requirements as well, lol

Developer has agreed to cap the commercial component to a max of 925k sq ft, and council seems satisfied with that, so we may finally be moving forward here
cafedujord.bsky.social
The developer says that even if they were willing to spend the money on this kind of proposal, from a financing perspective no equity partner would ever approve of this.
cafedujord.bsky.social
CM Nash asks for a counterproposal.

Feels like straight up extortion from the dais at this point, frankly
cafedujord.bsky.social
They're asking the developer what he thinks.

Unsurprisingly, he says he's never heard of something like this. "That's not financeable" in this market, he says.

No kidding.
cafedujord.bsky.social
The mayor appears to be backing down, but CM Nash is now asking for additional payments on top of the extremely generous community benefits package to defray supposed costs that the development will bring.

Sounds like she's asking for an additional $10M payment? This feels extremely sus
cafedujord.bsky.social
The mayor and certain councilmembers keep claiming this is what people want, which is absolutely not clear to me? Most of the people asked for them to advance the project without delay, and only a couple NIMBYs asked them to reduce the commercial space
