My wife and I, in our early 40s, going to dinner on one bike, because adding spice to life has become a priority.

She's reviewing the menu ahead of time. 🤳😉

Did some grocery shopping by cargo bike again today at the West Seattle Thriftway. Took the long way home and stopped to admire this view from High Point.

Keep a list of who is "just following orders" and make sure they don't get away unpunished when democracy is restored.

Walkable cities are perfect for busy people/families.

I had a 45 min break between work calls & wanted to fit in a quick walk.

My wife pointed out we still needed a grocery item for dinner.

I walked 10 mins to the co op and took the long way home.

And I got to pet a cute dog on the walk home!

This should be an unremarkable streetscape found in nearly every decent sized city across the country.

I finally found some genuinely well-designed shared streets here in New York City.

If your school zone infrastructure doesn't look like this, maybe it's time to start asking why not.

Fahrradfahren verlernt man nicht. Und in den Niederlanden gibt man den Menschen erst gar keine Gründe, damit aufzuhören

An adult driver angry at a child they hit with their car.

Our car culture summed up in one video.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

A cool (13°C), rainy, fall day in rural Ontario and biking to work is STILL more fun than driving.

I do need a different/proper rain coat for biking though... Drop your recs please! I'm strongly considering one from Rain Sisters but the price tag makes me hesitant.
A woman in a long, grey, wool coat, red scarf and matching red/orange toned sunglasses smiles at the camera as she stands in front of her e-bike. Everything is wet from the rain.

I love stories that go from pounds to cozy forever homes. ♥️

My long-standing take is that regular people have been unable to persuade decision makers to quickly fund better active infrastructure in cities, so maybe now that American capitalism needs it too, we'll finally get what we need. 🙃

Wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes, narrow car lanes, bulb-outs, speed bumps, transit-only lanes, and an end to subsidized street parking would do more to defeat fascism than anything else we could do, or are doing.

It's not just that drivers are, by far, the biggest threat to urban residents.

Electric cargo bikes can replace many everyday car trips for the average family and “reshape suburban family mobility”, say Oxford University researchers. 49 British households were loaned e-cargo bikes for school runs, shopping trips, family outings and other day-to-day use.

Even as someone who advocates for road safety daily, I'm not immune. Bad street design is coercive. It can mentally push even the most knowledgeable driver into making unsafe choices that feel "natural" in the moment. The design is the problem.

You can be the safest, most attentive driver in the world and still pose a massive risk to other road users. That’s because cars and car dependency are inherently dangerous.

This doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you drive, but I do think that drivers should acknowledge their role in this system.

How to relieve traffic congestion, guaranteed:

Support density, sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and high quality public transit. Give people more reasons to stay out of cars and the road will open up to you.
