mushroom foraging is my favourite personal example too. Even before genAI slop & *entire books generated by the slop machine*, people were already poisoning themselves with bad or inaccurate Internet mushroom info.

there is *no* substitute to in-person learning, & learning how to key fungi out

...which was more often than not applied to marginalized people defending themselves against malicious trolls. But "rude" is such a subjective label that it shouldn't even exist as *any* level of moderation on a social media site.

that's what happens when moderation is just ad-hoc, bolt-on, vibes-based (c-suite "vibes" already arguably racist, transphobic, etc) & then you hire a well-meaning (but ex-Twitter) guy for T&S who's seemingly ok (?) with the vibey nature of it all. Thinking of the fucking "Rude" label in particular

there's a hell of a lot of burnt trust right now. I want to believe people sincerely want to make things better, but i dunno how any one "bluesky team" member can repair the absolute scorched-earth blurts from the CEO. someone compared her posts to twitter's infamous "💩" replies, and ... yeah.
