yes yes, “blockchain is more than crypto”. You have to understand that nobody cares about the distinction unless they’re trying to distance themselves from crypto, and it’s not my job to help with that

I’ve been reading the protocol docs and there’s a lot of stuff in there that just feels kinda weird until you consider that the authors’ main reference for distributed systems is crypto

someone needs to do a thorough writeup of every clear tell of atproto as a blockchain project that pivoted, because their 2025 reflex is to deny it as hard as possible even though they're all coiners and so much of it reeks of blockchain

My dearest Gertrude,

I fear I shall not make it home. This war has ravaged our supplies and broken our will.

We arrived with weapons, purpose, and a directive. Yet at every turn, we are mocked. Belittled.

I have never experienced an insult so great in a war zone

Send my best to the children

This has always been the plan!
They want a captive market in schools/universities and for those institutions to eventually automate education with their chatbots.
We are TRAINING these LLMs in preparation for our redundancy, and experimenting with the health and futures of children while we do it

"Why would OpenAI and Microsoft spend $23 million to give 'free training' on how to use AI to teachers? Because they love teachers? No. Because they want to get their products into public schools in an attempt to cultivate the education market."

I maintain that we are in grave danger due not only to the trends noted by @hamiltonnolan.bsky.social in this piece, but by the failure of the Democratic party 1) to grasp these dangers and act in advance to prevent or minimize them; (1)

Everything we’re dealing with, this fresh hell every fucking day is thanks to the Dems/DNC kneecapping progressives instead of republicans.

77-year-old Maine Gov. Janet Mills has apparently been coaxed into jumping into the Maine Senate race, challenging Graham Platner in a Democratic primary.

The 40-year-old Platner has become a favorite of progressives and Democrats wanting a more muscular response to Trump. He has raised millions.

I cannot imagine being in that person's head and I wouldn't want to. I think your idea of blocking is wise - gonna do the same.

I am pretty sure this is a loss you can afford

Yeah I'd also argue the pack leads new users to believe they are subscribing to a list on a topic, when in fact they are subscribing to a whole bunch of complete human beings whose actual posts may (very fairly) diverge a fair bit from the title on the list.

It's not privilege discourse if it's just that you think someone's wrong and you're right.

It would be good for all of us if people would stop tormenting the language of oppression and liberation into actually being about their personal, petty grudges. Writing "kill[ing] the cop in your head" in a post where you're policing someone's random, anodyne thought on online discourse is lolz.
A thread starting with a quote of another post.

I'm feeling really done with conversations about conversations about the conversation. It's like social media has ejected us into this hyperreality space of associative terms no common ground. Like everyone's trying to go viral being pithy and petty in a reply. I don't want to spend my life on this.

Well...Dr... some people might have to take smaller bites and more passes than you. What you find annoying is probably just your lessors trying to work through

Maybe they should have paid more attention at the "Brink of Human Creativity Symposium" or whatever cutting edge, elitist bullshit you have access that the rest of us couldnt get time off for.

This is a post about privilege and killing the cop in your head and if you think its about your specific poor pretty pet white doctor its really not.

I think a lot of people think of the bubble as linear - as though it's just a bunch of individual, overvalued companies. It's closer to the 2008 crisis where you've got entwined interests, all propping up each others' forecasts. That's why the wreckage is so unpredictable.

A bunch of these circular AI deals are treating GPUs like they're real estate or Treasury bonds or something, rather than rapidly depreciating equipment with a high risk of obsolescence well within 5 years due to energy inefficiency and rising electricity costs.

XAI’s financing would be split between about $7.5 billion of equity and as much as $12.5 billion of debt in the SPV, the people said. The vehicle will be used to buy Nvidia processors, and Musk’s artificial intelligence startup would then rent the chips out for five years, allowing Wall Street financiers to recoup their investment. The unique deal structure, backed by the GPUs as opposed to the company, could provide a playbook for tech firms looking to decrease debt exposure.

Here’s the thing about social media moderation: you need to have both a provision and a practice of keeping people off your platform even if they don’t break any of your rules but are simply just a fucking asshole. And of course off-platform behavior is a legitimate reason.

I am fairly agazed by my surprise
botmatrix.myatproto.social
Hanging out in the mentions of a professional on a social media network and seemingly expressing resentment & jealousy of their achievements, and obsessing over whether they see you as lesser, is weirdo shit, friend.

I'm not trying to be vague here I'm just trying not to accidentally subtweet one of several people

I'm hopeful that people will look back on right now as a time when everybody was under a lot of pressure and not being their best selves, and hopefully some things that seemed big will seem small

Although the things some people have revealed about themselves can't be unseen.😔
