77-year-old Maine Gov. Janet Mills has apparently been coaxed into jumping into the Maine Senate race, challenging Graham Platner in a Democratic primary.

The 40-year-old Platner has become a favorite of progressives and Democrats wanting a more muscular response to Trump. He has raised millions.

If it won't affect whether or not the law goes into effect, I don't see the point in calling. You already know by the fact that he hasn't signed them that he doesn't hold protecting trans rights as a value. Punish him at the polls for it.

I absolutely agree that it is morally the right thing to do. And if he was a moral, ethical person, he would have done so already.

If you have to ask him to do it, it already tells you that he is not a moral or ethical person.

If a person wants to get votes progressive and leftist votes for the democrat party nomination (or votes from them in general), you shouldn't have to beg that person to protect trans rights when bills come across their desk.

Seemingly, if he held trans rights as a value, you wouldn't have to beg him to sign the bills, no?

Like, the very notion that he needs people to call him to persuade him to do this tells you that he can't be trusted to protect trans folks if it's not politically expedient.

This may be a hot take, but if you respect people's bodily autonomy, you understand how age and stress affect the body, and that relationships change over time, then you wouldn't be pointing fingers and laughing at someone who decided that feeling pressure for sex is cause for ending a relationship.

Aside from posting in all caps on Twitter and shuffling paperwork in court, what are you doing to do to protect the people of your state against ICE agents, red state national guard, and your own state/local police who are acting as deputized brown shirts?
Do you have any power as governor or not?

The fact that you think that Trump would allow the normal democratic process to proceed tells us you have no grasp on the current situation.
Further, your notion of “just want 4 more years” seems like you aren’t very concerned about the irreparable damage to lives that would happen in that time.

People... are allowed to come up with mean names for inanimate objects. If you compare this practice to racial slurs, I'm going to think you believe people of other races hold the same concrete significance and value as inanimate objects. This is one of those slips that does not look good on anyone.
