Indeed. And combine those with road designs which encourage the behaviour we’re seeing and zero enforcement (automated or otherwise) it’s no wonder our streets are so unsafe.

I always ask them, “Who vetted you before you moved into your neighbourhood?” And follow up with, “Nobody? So what gives you the right to determine who moves in?”

Time to stop feeding the troll, I think.

I remember reading “Barometer Rising” not long before our family visited Halifax in the mid-70’s. I think I spent more time looking for signs of the explosion than the sites.

I hope there’s a sprinkling of Oxford commas in there!

Do you really? Because you are fighting tooth and nail against safe infrastructure, even suggesting it’s okay to block that infrastructure and endanger cyclists to prioritize the speed and convenience of drivers.
December 6, 2025 at 8:23 PM
How is giving families more safe options to driving harming them? You may not be able to use a bike but many who are disabled can. Bike lanes are also accessed by people who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices when sidewalks become impassible for them.
December 6, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Bike paths allow more people to safely use bikes, freeing up space for people who must drive. Prioritizing more efficient modes isn’t harming families or workers, it’s giving them more options in transport and freeing up space for those who must drive.

You said, “. I very much support bicycle paths and bicyclist unless they use bicycle paths to harm families and workers who need cars.” How should I interpret this other than you prioritizing people in cars over modes outside cars? They’re your words and you keep repeating them.

I think I have some of a similar vintage around here somewhere. Possibly also from Woodwards!
December 6, 2025 at 6:28 PM
You seem to be suggesting only people in cars are doing important things, while biking is just frivolous. Many of us ride for transportation & are also doing important things (as are people who walk and take transit). I’d argue that the most efficient modes (bikes and transit) should take priority.
December 6, 2025 at 6:26 PM
And for those who can’t? Doubling down on your ableism isn’t helping your argument. And you call people on bikes entitled! Let motor vehicles block the car lanes and not endanger the more vulnerable road user. Is that not obvious?
December 6, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Multiuser paths just shift the conflict to between pedestrians and people on bikes. They can be okay in low traffic areas but generally suck for both users in high traffic areas. All modes need to be separated.
December 6, 2025 at 4:51 PM
You know there are people who can’t walk who ride bikes, right? Bike lanes are vehicle lanes, why is it okay to block that but not a car lane?
December 6, 2025 at 4:43 PM
While you’re at it, could you start calling out the @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social mayor and council for their appalling lack of action on improving our streets for people outside of cars?
December 6, 2025 at 3:34 AM
Sadly, we voted in “pro-active transport” mayor and council, who have a majority to get things done. They’ve chosen not to get things done. It turns out we were conned by this group.

Time for civil suits for every preventable injury or death. Especially when the danger is well documented and the municipality advised of the danger.
December 6, 2025 at 2:07 AM
Why isn’t this being pushed Province wide?

Off the chart chaos

Might be worth the wait. Slip a photo of the clutch inside a card with an estimated arrival date.
December 5, 2025 at 10:54 PM
I had the advantage of not ordering during the holiday season!
December 5, 2025 at 10:53 PM
I’ve been watching your city develop active transportation infrastructure leaps and bounds beyond what was promised in @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social and have become so frustrated.
