New publication! 🚨

If you're looking for a paper on what great tits eat then this is for you! 🦋🐛🐞🪲🐦

We looked at variation in diet using DNA metabarcoding and found lots of differences between adult and young birds and between habitat types.

Schematic of the structure of the paper. We looked at dietary differences between ages and sexes, seasons and habitat types. We looked at the identity of prey in the diet and the number of dietary items.

Off to #Liverpool for 'fieldwork' (ie collect gull poop). If anyone is local and knows where both HG and LBBG like to hang out let me know. I'll start off at the docks but local knowledge on where gulls like to get up to no good welcome!

Consistent with other studies; we also found consistent individual differences in social behaviour, and stability in whom associates with whom, despite our manipulations, indicative of social personalities
camilletroisi.bsky.social
We also found that the (food distribution and social treatment) manipulations persisted beyond the manipulation (although we only looked at this in a foraging context).
Even small-scale changes can have impacts on broader social structure
