There's no shortage of acceptance and praise for defectors to the opposition coalition. But they're not enticed by patronizing "oh you couldn't have known, it was understandable to vote for him." You don't message to where people were, you message to where they are, which is they don't like the man.
Saving America from Trump and preserving our democracy explicitly requires that people who voted for Trump change their mind. Which in turn requires that those who didn’t vote for Trump show grace and empathy to those whose change of heart came from being hurt by the guy they voted for…
