One of the sectors they listed is adult social care. When I was 19 I worked briefly as a care worker and I was nowhere near mature enough for it. I was—rightly—fired. It’s incredibly hard work, both physically and mentally, for shit pay, and not a job we should be forcing young people into taking.

Agreed. Then at least we can prepare evidence etc to challenge the excuses before we go to GP appointments. Force them to explicitly say “I don’t care about your health needs.”

Mine is claiming there’s another NHS GIC which covers this area and he might be willing to prescribe if I got an SCA from them, but he can’t name it and refused to look it up when I asked him to.

Same. Also refused to prescribe my ADHD meds. Fortunately I was able to go back to the secondary provider for those. All the support they need is right there. The endo at the GIC tells them what to prescribe, has a dedicated phone line for GPs to help them become competent, and yet they don’t bother
