labour/democrats/whoever are not losing because they’re discussing supporting trans people. they’re losing because they agreed, by engaging in the argument at all, with the premise that some minority groups can be blamed for social problems.

Most people are functionally [il]literate, and ability to think critically and interpret subtext is highly correlated to reading ability; satire is genuinely impossible for many people to parse. It breaks my heart sometimes. There are ways to play together that most people cannot join in.
