Vertebrate paleontologist, specializing in Plio-Pleistocene megafauna (horses & bison, mostly), extinctions, etc. He/him. Views my own.
I'm surprised, this is a really weird (and bad) take.

At a glance, I like this, but ... yeah, "mass extinction"?! 🤔

I grew up with the Warren Mastodon without realizing it. This model, which I assembled with my (very patient) dad back when I was a young boy, is based upon the famed New York skeleton. (Apologies for the poor glue job, I've since gotten a bit better.) #FossilFriday

Instead of condemning this violence and intimidation, Rep. Raskin is choosing to side with the mob, recycle false smears, and chase headlines. His posturing is not principled. It is dangerous and it puts federal officers at risk."
January 15, 2026 at 11:06 PM
"Public databases and online "lists" have been created to expose officers' identities, and the threat environment is getting worse. Assaults on ICE officers have surged more than 1,300 percent, accompanied by increasing vehicular attacks and death threats - realities Rep. Raskin chooses to ignore."

"ICE officers wear face coverings for one reason: to protect themselves and their families from real-world threats fueled by thug activist intimidation campaigns. That danger is not hypothetical."
January 15, 2026 at 11:06 PM
"What is dangerous is an elected official falsely casting federal law enforcement as villains while ICE officers are being targeted, threatened, and doxxed simply for doing their jobs."

Okay, here's what that screenshot says:

"Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin:

"Rep. Raskin's letter is reckless, disgusting, and unhinged. Enforcing the laws passed by Congress is not a dog whistle, and he knows it. He Is deliberately undermining federal law enforcement for political theater."
