Brainwide blood volume reflects opposing neural populations

Brainwide fluctuations in blood volume arise from two populations with opposite relation to brain state and distinct relationships to blood supply

RIP Jane Goodall.

Sharing this photo of Skosha, one of the chimpanzees she studied. I took this photo in Gombe Stream, Tanzania, in November 2000.

I'm an FRS and I want him out. The argument I heard (to keep him) is that in the 1930s a few FRSs were pro nazi Germany, and in the 1950s a few were pro Stalin; that none were expelled; and that expelling them would have been a slippery slope. But this is not an official position. I'd kick him out.

Building reproducible systems across labs is possible, even in large-scale neuroscience. You just need rigor, collaboration and the willingness to look your own practices in the eye, writes Anne Churchland.

Does predictive coding work in SPACE or in TIME? Most neuroscientists assume TIME, i.e. neurons predict their future sensory inputs. We show that in visual cortex predictive coding actually works across SPACE, just like the original Rao+Ballard theory #neuroscience
