Our members have voted to support industrial action to fight against job cuts passed today!

In the ballot our 72% of members were in favour of strike action, and 90% in favour of action short of strike. Turnout was 58%.

Thank you to all members, reps and officials for helping us get the vote out.

Remember when UEG told us “there was no plan B” for further redundancies.

Now we know, from the published Recovery Plan, that at the same time they were proposing over 400 future job losses including over 350 redundancies.

We cannot trust their words.

Vote in our ballot now to protect jobs.

Scottish government Ministerial statement on Dundee University confirms an instruction to the SFC to provide £40m to the university, on top of £27m already funded. A £40-£60m liquidity gap remains, to be filled from commercial sources. Presumably the public money de-risks the prospect for banks

Fantastic news in our fight to save jobs, as interim Principal Prof Nigel Seaton confirms that there will be no redundancies. A massive victory for everyone who has supported us.

We are extremely concerned by the letter from Ernst and Young, auditors at the University of Dundee.

The letter suggests that executives submitted inaccurate responses during the auditing process.

The University of Dundee is currently trying to make 100% of female research Professors in the School of Science and Engineering redundant.

100% OF FEMALE RESEARCH PROFESSORS!

Only one female professor (teaching and scholarship) from that School will remain working on our UK campuses.

The School of Science and Engineering houses our Maths dept. and the Dean is a mathematician.

So we used a hyper geometric distribution calculator (hope that’s the correct model) to predict the chance of this gender targeting occurring by chance.

It’s a 1 in 9090 chance.

Today Senate meets to discuss the restructuring of our academic schools. This is part of the recovery plan but no costings have been shared.

No Equality Impact Assessment has been undertaken.

Feedback from all eight schools was negative and has not been addressed.

Senate should vote accordingly.
