First bird of my day: a flock of about thirty black-headed gulls drifting inland in the rain. A few seconds later, the sky erupted with jackdaws leaving their roost and heading to a nearby tree. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

First bird of my day: there were numerous unidentifiable little brown birds caught in the headlights as they flitted across the road and along the bushes in the dark. The first recognisable bird was a pair of cormorants heading out to Morecambe Bay in the first light. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
