The English parliament failed first time round to support our Swifts, but, as usual the Scottish one showed the right way forward.

I have just looked out of my front window and watched a flock of 49 curlew land in the field across the road.(I counted three times to be sure!) There are usually one or two there every day, but I have never seen this many before. #birding #birds

Freezing temperatures and a dusting of snow last night have turned RSPB Leighton Moss into a stunning, sparkling reserve. Water rail were easy to see at the edges of the reeds, marsh harriers were very active, but I didn't get to see any otters this time. #winter #nature #phonepics
