This old tree isn't as old as the stones of Long Meg and her Daughters that circle it. It is a gnarled tree with so many nooks and crannies for wee beasties to live in. Photos of both sides. #ThickTrunkTuesday

A wintery walk above Ullswater. I would argue this is the Lake District's prettiest lake, even on a cloudy day. The walk over and below Gowbarrow from Aira Force is a treat. #LakeDistrict

We recently passed 2,200 of walking route descriptions on Walkhighlands (we really are supposed to be updating/improving routes and not adding more!!). But did you know that you can also post your own reports from walks on the site too - regardless of whether you followed our routes or not?

A very welcome ruling in Northern Ireland - supporting that basic right of freedom of/from religion. The state - and state schools - should not teach a religion as truth or push it on children.
