The year is 2027. America is a disease-ridden wasteland. Escalators are forbidden and have been removed from all public spaces. Only one television channel offering one program remains: Trump TV. And this is where our story begins…

when Elon Musk started recruiting for DOGE last November, he said the work would be “tedious” and “compensation is zero"

now it turns out some DOGE operatives are earning six-figure salaries, one as high as $195,200, as much as a civil servant can legally make

Some DOGE Staffers Are Drawing Six-Figure Government Salaries
Engineers and executives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency are drawing healthy taxpayer-funded salaries—sometimes from the very agencies they are cutting.

Bird flu update (H5N1). Might be worth buying some chicken for the freezer now if that’s something you like to eat. Easy to imagine prices going up.
Ohio Department of Agriculture today confirmed another almost 4M poultry affected by H5N1 on Thursday and Friday this week in Darke and Mercer counties. This corridor + poultry outbreaks in Indiana becoming something of a hotbed:

Thanks to everyone who has chipped in so far. If you're able to support, here's a link that goes 100% to organizations on the ground:

The Musk-Johnson government shutdown bill has been soundly defeated.

MAGA extremists in the House GOP are not serious about helping working class Americans.

They are simply doing the bidding of their wealthy donors and puppeteers.

Unacceptable.

People should be free to make their OWN decisions about what to read. “Any time you say you want a book removed from a public library or...school, you are saying ‘I don’t approve of this, & I don’t want my family to have it; therefore, no one should have it.'" www.easternprogress.com/online_featu...
Banned books and censorship: "an issue that affects everyone"
As new legislation is introduced throughout the country: the idea of promoting censorship has prevailed. This political climate has caused a surge in book bans in the United States.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
