Wrapped #Atomfall in just about 20 hrs. Very fun open-world pseudo-survival shooter.
Nicely paced, excellent writing and straightforward gameplay without a million mechanics.
Ending didn’t knock my socks off but it’s about the journey and all that… Highly recommend!

Hello,
I am returneth from my adventures in the world of The Witcher 3 and now I want to talk about the economy. Thankfully there are no other economic movements or events that might embitter anyone towards this concept. cartridgethief.blogspot.com/2025/04/the-...

Games need to get over their aversion to politics

Honestly, games and politics have always been close to my heart. It's a mistake to try and keep them separate.

A God of War live-service game sounds absolutely dreadful. Out of touch execs making decisions.
BREAKING: PlayStation has canceled two more live-service games, from subsidiaries Bend and Bluepoint, Bloomberg has learned.

Fans have long wondered what Bluepoint has been working on for the last couple of years. I can report it was a live-service God of War game. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

All the difficulty hype around the bosses nearly put me off Elden Ring’s DLC.
Now I’m playing it, I realise that’s just a fraction of the experience and that it’s the awesome exploration that’s the real selling point

If you've enjoyed Cryptmaster, please consider sharing the news. Despite an IGF award, a 95% Steam rating and a free demo, the game has gone mostly unnoticed by both press and players. It's not just a typing game and there may still be people out there who would enjoy it!

Nothing wrong with simple games inspired by the old school. Flatly refusing to move on and make something new feels a lot more iffy to me
with retro games, there's always a tension between people who just like simpler games or are interested in game history vs. the people who want to eternally escape back into their childhood and hold retro games as trinkets to that. unfortunately it feels like the latter voice has become a lot louder

Strap Saint because he’s got that strap on him and cause he will peg the shit out of you
Strap Saint Isshin will always be a top 5 boss for me... an all around incredibly fun fight🧘‍♂️

Old video games should be preserved and made more accessible on hardware now.
Emulation is amazing but i also want these games to be available on modern consoles & PC ports!

Request from a friend.
Anyone know wtf is going on in that circle at the bottom of the #BetterMan poster?
It looks like a question mark dabbing, what is it meant to be?

I'm really conflicted about want I want for Switch 2.

On the one hand, I want them to just make a more powerful Switch that's backwards compatible.

On the other hand, gimme that Labo/WiiU/DS batshit Nintendo magic.

The cowardice of game remakes is that they always chose celebrated titles to remake and use the most modern standard systems to adapt while they should tackle those flawed games that have troubled developments of budget cuts that never reached their full potential, those need remakes.

2025 just started. I hope everyone survived last night and has a good 12 months ahead of them.

Why not start on a positive note by reading my ramblings about my favourite stuff I played last year!

I always hated this attitude of being told you're enjoying something "wrong" if you're critical of it at the same time. as if the only correct way to enjoy media is to shut your brain off and not think about it lol

It's broadly good that "video games in their current form are unsustainable" is a discussion reaching the mainstream, but I sure do wish we had a robust and curious games media to tackle the subject rather than the NYTimes.

These studios have quickly become some of my favorite devs in the games industry.

- CD Projekt Red
- FromSoftware (goated)
- Remedy Entertainment
- Larian Studios

When their games hit I’ll drop everything for them.

That every AAA game announcement is followed by a "don't put politics in my game" bullshit still is honestly disheartening.

We're stuck. Rehashing. Repeating.

A game is what the developers want it to be.

Your only choice is to play it or don't.

More ppl need to realize that "good graphics" does not automatically mean "hyperrealistic graphics"

Graphics are the entire look of the game, it can include things like the art style, ui, aesthetic, all the way down to the font size it uses.
December 20, 2024 at 1:31 PM
This. Modern standards for graphics tech have always held back gameplay innovation rather than bolstering it.
It's pretty eye-rolling we're still pretending like rpgs falling off in 7th gen was like genre stagnation or something and not just the simple reality of 'rpgs have a lot of shit in them and it's really expensive to make a lot of shit at a modern fidelity level'

Currently replaying Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the first time in over a decade. It's been in my top 5 for a long time for a good reason. Holds up surprisingly well and the environmental puzzles are still so fun. Still love wall running and rewinding time. Combat feels aged but quaint.
