I fail to understand the issue. If you're ignoring deadlines or the work you submit isn't up to standards, you fail the class. If you fail a class three times you get dismissed from university.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I'm so happy about all the discourse I miss

One of the earlier Bluesky characters I miss deeply is the "dog poop pills" guy who used ChatGPT to treat his girlfriends illness.

People who build nothing love criticizing those who do.
Frankly, not even low project funding is an excuse, because that just means you took on more projects than you could afford to. That's called being irresponsible.
Do you plan to switch to using humans for all your projects once funding is high enough? If not, you are contributing to human job loss.

I'll have to admit it: sometimes when I'm browsing the web I see something cool / unique happening in San Francisco and then I'm a tiny bit sad I live 10000 km away.

My wife and I spent the morning visiting the Christmas market in Würzburg! The lack of snow means a lack of coziness, but the tourists don't seem to mind.

it’s almost like one of these things meaningfully benefits people’s lives and can’t happen without the other, which is just snobbery

there is a culture on here of believing you can sneer your way into or out of anything, you don’t have to understand anything, and it’s virtuous to act like a 1980s high school movie bully
scorn was an effective weapon for the monkey jpeg NFT shit because it was effectively a status good, generative AI is a tool that millions get utility out of daily and you can't sneer your way out of that.

And the destruction of the Internet continues.
The European Parliament m voted in favor of banning social media for people under the age of 16.

483 MEPs voted in favor while 92 voted against. If it becomes law, people will likely have to use IDs to log into their profiles, making anonymous accounts impossible.

I'm not sure if a person I saw on my ride home needed help, and the guilt of not stopping to ask is eating me alive.
