All of academia is scrambling to meet AI like it’s a permanent fixture and I am here with my popcorn waiting for the bubble to burst.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s motivating a lot of people to reconsider assessments and I’m pro that, but AI as an industry? lol let it burnnnnn

I usually don’t share US political stuff, so in case anyone missed it, I lived in the US for the first 30 years of my life and am still holding US citizenship and I fucking hate the USA. I also have a “don’t talk with kiwis about US politics” policy, which is why you don’t see me post about it.

“The real story isn’t Winston Peters’ window no matter how much he wants it to be”

“Here's the real story by Dr Jehad Malaka from Palestine as part of the Palestinian Journalism Project I'm running here on Emily Writes Weekly”

Winston Peters, the victim.
Winston Peters needs you to know that he's a victim. He's a victim. And his dog is a victim. His house is a victim. What he has been through is worse than anything anyone else has ever been through. W...

National: fuck them kids

Labour: yeah!
cassiemph.bsky.social
Fuck Labour for being part of the rachet effect. If they pulled policy back to the left to undo the harms of National, we might see a stalemate, but instead they are spineless and stand still, allowing all of us to be dragged toward fascism.

This is why I vote green or TPM

Hipkins won't reverse National’s plan to stop 18- and 19-year-olds from accessing the unemployment benefit when out of work.

Do ya see why we call Labour (especially under Hipkins) National lite? #nzpol
Labour's view on youth welfare: 18- and 19-year-olds aren't adults either
Why the removal of the unemployment benefit for 18–19-year-olds reveals the limits of Labour’s empathy in practice.

Hell yeah! When I say it takes all types for the revolution I mean some people blockade and some people send money to support their legal efforts and some people help share the fundraiser and some knit socks and think about what they will tell our kids about it all

I have had Covid one time, and I can no longer multitask, my functional memory is shot, my emotional regulation is wrecked and I have increased fatigue 11 months after the initial infection. This is probably my new normal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
cassiemph.bsky.social
Also reminder that these findings are matching what is found in adults. The biggest names in Covid epidemiology have been telling us for years that the risk of long COVID accumulates, we are more likely to experience it after each subsequent infection www.phcc.org.nz/briefing/lon...
cassiemph.bsky.social
A lot of it will be a population level cognitive decline. What could be expected of a cohort who had never been exposed cannot be expected of a cohort who have had Covid 2-5 times.

I work with young people and we are already seeing reduced capacity and skills and no you cannot blame it all on schooling over zoom for their first high school years.

The casual brutality of this political circus coupled with 3-5 years of cultural gaslighting will end with the predictable long trailing end of increasingly more disabled people at an increasingly younger age.

“Children and teenagers are twice as likely to develop long Covid after a second coronavirus infection as after an initial infection, a large new study has found.”

Great we’ve just confirmed that any NZ teenagers with chronic conditions trying to access government support are out of luck 🫠
