if you wanna learn first aid, sometimes your work may sponsor it (it's good for HR reasons) or local employment centres will offer them for free so that it helps you on your resumes

contact a local career centre or your boss if you are interested in first aid training but can't afford the classes!

I think they're talking about a tourniquet, but you wanna put pressure on any cuts/lacerations on the actual spot that it's cut (with layers of clean gauze in between)

like when you get a needle at the doc and they tell you to hold pressure on it

the main thing is to not copy movies and TV, you'll see people remove an arrow/knife from a leg (DONT DO THAT) but you should leave any foreign objects alone and just secure/dress it in place

that's the MOST IMPORTANT thing I tell anyone who doesn't have first aid training LOL

I had to take a very in-depth course when I used to do senior in-home care, and just refreshed it earlier this year. luckily I still knew everything but it's great to have the new mental health first aid section

well don't worry, if NOTHING else, you can always keep a first aid kit with you (in the car, in the home, a backpack etc) and 911 will walk you through any first aid you need to perform in an emergency!

first aid training is one of those things you don't think about until you NEED it, but it's like riding a bike, once you touch the handlebars the rest is easy

but you do need to get retrained often cause information is always changing (and now there's a mental health first-responder section too!)

unfortunately, a lot of white trans people haven't done the work to be anti-racist and don't notice how they mistreat and dehumanize Black and brown trans women.

you gotta put the work in. bring POC into your social circles.
