Great discussion on This Morning, on the importance of outdoor learning, while acknowledging we need to support teachers rather than criticise, & that different children will thrive in different settings. Something we champion at work😊 @pkcountryside.bsky.social @thismorningitv.bsky.social

North Lanarkshire Councillors this week rejected the latest "Europark" planning application which would have destroyed and fragmented ancient woodland in the greenbelt near Coatbridge.

We have been fighting this scheme in its various guises since 2018. 🧵 1/2

The UK may ban #bottomtrawling within some additional #MarineProtectedAreas. After years of pressure, change could finally be coming. We’ve campaigned hard for this, we really hope the #UKgovernment will do the right thing. Find out more about this potential turning point here: tinyurl.com/k5banvpy

Had a brilliant time in John O’Groats last weekend. Included a visit to the newly re-opened John O’Groats Mill! One of Scotland’s last working water mills- lots of local history. We were lucky to get some extra info from Ronald too! Can highly recommend 😊 #johnogroats #scotland

Brilliant news! At last, confirmation that the Govt *will* go ahead with the #NaturalHistoryGCSE 🎉 We have to get to know our fellow travellers on this planet again. Young people who know & love nature are far more likely to protect & restore it - as well as enjoying better physical & mental health

Campaigners have been calling for the qualification for years but plan stalled despite a curriculum being drawn up

Absolutely loved the A Whole New World of Alan Menken concert last night! He explained people tell him he "wrote the soundtrack to their childhood" well it's true for me too. From the Little Mermaid to Little Shop, Newsies & Sister Act - it's just a joy to hear it all. 😊 🎶 🎭

Whales CANNOT swallow people! A #kayaker was not "swallowed" by a #humpbackwhale, it’s physically impossible! Their throat is only the size of a human fist. Glad to hear the kayaker is safe! 👉 tinyurl.com/urhzdzjb

The walk from the centre of Perth up to Kinnoull Hill and its tower was one of many we were out updating in the area last week. I can never resist snapping another shot here - incredible that this view is so accessible on foot from a city/town centre.

The planet is our foundations - break it and there’s no point trying to build anything; it’ll all just fall apart.

Bats and Newts deserve protection; they’re also connected to everything else. Nature needs protecting. We need houses yes - but not at the expense of wildlife. 🤦‍♀️
#RachelReeves
Stop worrying about bats and newts? No Rachel Reeves MP – start worrying about the future of our economy if we tear down the nature it depends on.

Nature isn’t a blocker; it’s the foundation of growth.
