Oh Christ. I hear you.

Yeah, you're not alone in feeling like that. I think its curtains for us in Feb (which is cruel) in spite of the fact it's a good thing that has happened.
I'll have to go back to full time work. One income household here and that's a good chunk of it. Ciao, writing days.

We have no idea yet, Colm. Climbing the walls. He did indicate at the press release that pilot is over in Feb. My take away is new scheme of 2000 through lottery. I'm praying I'm wrong because if I'm not, I've effectively just lost a job.

I'm sharing this again in light of today's announcement, particularly for those who are curious about what the BIA is/does/means for receipients.
We have absolutely no idea what shape it's going to take from here on in or if it's going to be another competitive application/lottery.
Stay tuned

Míle buíochas @irishexaminer.bsky.social for the invite to write about the Basic Income for the Arts pilot scheme. It's been a game changer for many professional artists and recognition of the sectors importance to society and economy

The basic income scheme for the arts changed my life
The guaranteed €325 a week allowed me to pay myself a living wage to sit at my desk and write my two novels. Now we're asking the Government to retain and expand the scheme

Ah, such lovely words from @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social and Liam Ó on @rteradio1.bsky.social now. A tribute and a prayer to their friend. ❤️ 🐝

He was such a lovely man. I had the pleasure of spending time in his company, only once, a few years ago and he left such an impression. Thinking of the people who knew and loved him well. Massive loss to the guardians of Irish language and culture.

Thanks @sineadgleeson.bsky.social for sharing the poem below.
I can't stop thinking of @sarahmaintains.bsky.social and the Irish citizens. Thinking of all the other activists too @freedomflotilla.bsky.social
Hard not to feel furious and pretty useless at the same time.
Keep shouting.

Thinking of @sarahmaintains.bsky.social and the other Irish citizens who are part of the @freedomflotilla.bsky.social, and have been detained by the IDF who illegally intercepted them in international waters.

Here is Sarah’s poem, ‘If I had any other thing’:
