She moves to the top of my list on the basis of your answer! Thank you 🙂

Great - she’s been on my ‘must-read’ list for a while! I’ve seen Macaulay compared to Woolf in several places and I’m wondering how you’d describe her writing style? Is she a Woolf or a Whipple? (my current strange yard stick)

Ever wondered where all the Cheers title photos are from? I did. And I've gathered everything I can find into this post. That was fun.

Brilliant to see this. I get so weary from the massive waste and cost to the environment that is caused by purchase of cheap Halloween costumes that are only worn once. Would be great to see this take off in other areas, kudos to @marthafanning.bsky.social

A fabulous initiative from Blackrock Councillor @marthafanning.bsky.social - next Saturday at Urban Junction (just up the road from us) 👻🎃🧙‍♀️

“The bogs, rivers, mountains, and shorelines are more than preservers of old myths, bones, and memories. They are energy banks and time sponges, and what is held within them seeks release.”

As were you Manchán. As were you.

Manchán’s sustainable lifestyle was more than idealism it was committed practice. His legacy asks: What sustainable act will you plant today?

In his memory, I’ll plant these native flowers this weekend.
I invite you to share one small biodiversity action you’ll take? #speirgorm

I’m nearly finished it and I highly recommend - it’s a delicious read!

There’s a lovely recent Tea or Books podcast on The Crooked Cross and The Spring Begins - I was longing to read both by the end! @stuckinabook.bsky.social

This is an excruciating watch.

I also started this today!! Thanks to @jacquiwine.bsky.social and lovely Tea or Books podcast from @stuckinabook.bsky.social. It’s so far a beautiful read.

Love this thread! Can’t wait to read the book.

Am currently reading The House of Mirth and this topic feels very relevant!
cathymcglynn.bsky.social
I should admit I only watched one episode 😂 But not sure I can go back to it. I think it’s worth a watch just to get a sense of it - sometimes I think I’m too cynical!

Was so looking forward to #HouseOfGuinness and I absolutely hated it. Interesting that the critical reviews widely vary and I’m wondering about the experience of watching this as an Irish vs non-Irish person. It felt stagey, clichèd and depicting Fenians as leprechauns was unforgivable.

Can’t recommend this training highly enough to anyone in Ireland working in the area of singing and health, especially those working with people with Parkinson’s disease. It’s been transformative for my Parkinsongs choir. @singtobeat.bsky.social

If you’re interested in learning about singing for people with Parkinson’s, we’d love you to join us for our training course next month in Dublin! The course takes place from 11am - 5pm on the 18th October. We hope to see you there!

Speaking for the marginalised voiceless as she clutches her €20,000 Hermes bag…

Great interview! Surely Nick Offerman is one of the most likeable celebrities in Hollywood.

This is true actually - I’m not sure I would have appreciated her at all when I was younger.

Great review! I read this in the summer while on a trip to London and coincidentally I was staying in Maida Vale where the protagonist lives! I loved this book. Brookner is such a glorious late discovery for me.

Also love how the font size and style changes as you get lower down the title page

Oh this book is a warm hug!

Not the first time I’ve seen this error - @theguardian.com did a recent piece with the same thing. Important to get it right!
