What I'm listening to today: "War"

Sinead O'Connor covering Bob Marley, stripped down, sharpened, into something like a weapon. This ran live on TV and all anyone talked about was the career-ending final seconds. No one understood why she did it. Child abuse? Absurd

Today I have found that Trump has managed to get to me more so than usual. The man is without doubt one of the cruelest most deceitful megalomaniacs, that America has ever had to contend with. It is so wrong that he is allowed to cause the mayhem that he is.

Whichever way you look at it, this is a significantly superior economic performance.”
Decline, what decline? The myth of dying Europe
There is a widespread view that, by comparison with the USA, Europe is in economic and social decline. But, Zucman argues, it's not true

I don’t blame the rest of the world for being angry and hating all Americans. We deserve their disdain. We should ban guns by the way since not one single American with a gun has used it to fight tyranny. Remember how that was always the excuse for gun humpers to have guns? What a bunch of bullshit!

Starmer and Farage both drape themselves in flags but once again it's really clear where their loyalty really is.

It's Trump first. They will always be on the side of the super rich and powerful - no matter how heinous the crime.

This is not patriotism. It's subservience.

Starmer, the puppet!
We’re with America all the way, no matter what they do. Because if the American government gets burned for their obvious crimes, these assholes will also go up like a Roman candle.

So-called men of the people — pure grift.
Reform UK won’t say ‘private’ when talking about the NHS. Richard Tice is calling it ‘independent’:

"Instead of giving £26bn to the already bloated wasteful NHS, we proposed easing pressure on the health service by incentivising those who can afford to pay more to go independent with a tax break."

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

When facts stop mattering and politics becomes performance, Hannah Arendt said trouble follows.

Democracy doesn’t usually collapse with a bang, but with a shrug.

Hannah Arendt and the new age of populism
A year into Trump’s second term is a good moment to revisit Hannah Arendt’s warnings about ideology, isolation, and the slow erosion of truth.

The US has launched an unprovoked and illegal attack on Venezuela.

This is a brazen attempt to secure control over Venezuelan natural resources.

It is an act of war that puts the lives of millions of people at risk, and should be condemned by anyone who believes in sovereignty & international law.

Most intelligent people already know that Trump is a traitor who is assisting Putin, that he’s ransacking public finances to bolster his family fortune, and that he’s not only mentioned in the Epstein Files, multiple times, but was likely in cahoots with Epstein for decades.

This isn’t difficult.

Trump went on an all-night Christmas Eve posting bender. He's so desperate to shore up his legacy. It won't work. He's universally hated by decent people throughout the country and world. No one of sound mind thinks he's a good President. He's obviously an awful human being. Someday he will be gone.
