The SDLP has utterly failed the trans community.

Let’s be real: when it came to the puberty blocker ban, the SDLP didn’t just stay silent they sided with the oppressors. They refused to support Gerry Carroll’s motion in Stormont, choosing cowardice over courage. That’s not opposition. That’s complicity.

We’ve heard directly from SDLP sources that if they’d been part of the Executive, they would have voted for the ban. And everything they’ve done (or rather, failed to do ) since the ban came into force only proves it. Not a single meaningful action. Not a word of real solidarity.
More or less silence while trans kids are thrown under the bus.

And now, they’re trying to save face with this pathetic bit of PR in Belfast Live. Instead of condemning the ban, they spin and waffle, trying to sound supportive without actually saying anything. It’s cynical, it’s hollow, and it’s insulting.

Meanwhile, People Before Profit, the Greens, and the Socialist Party have made their positions crystal clear. They’ve shown up, spoken out, and taken action. They’ve stood with trans people when it mattered.

The SDLP? They’ve proven they’ll sell out trans rights the second it’s politically convenient. Don’t let them pretend otherwise.

Trans people deserve real allies! Not cowards in fancy dress who’ll happily look the other way while young people’s lives are put at risk.
