But completely agree with your observations about re-printing Brown's commentary. I am lucky to have a copy of his facsimile of the Vatican Paulinus, and his commentary on those scribes has been absolutely foundational for me.

Julia has a copy in her office, so when I taught for her, I had prime access to it. I just wouldn't recommend bringing both volumes up and down eight flights of stairs, especially if you're wearing heels (do as I say, not as I do).

Actually, one of the Aldhelm mss is definitely referred to as being difficult to read because it was written in Insular script (it is now lost 🥲). I'll have to chase up that reference for you.
