I like to see artists play w/ style, venue, category. IMHO Pale House Devil was a refreshing change up after the Sandman Slim stories. Both were in the general category of modern urban fantasy/horror but the experience was a change from a pint of ale to a short of bitters - similar & new!

Well, I'm waiting on my copy to arrive TOMORROW, so no plot questions.

But one of the things I've noticed over the years w/ your writing is that you seem to cutting more and more prose, the recent stories being very tight - even more than a lot of the great LA noir. Is that a conscious style?
