Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

What exactly do insurance companies contribute to the quality of care in the United States? Does it improve care? Lower cost?

How many federal workers would DOGE need to fire to make up for Musk not paying his fair share of taxes?

Answer: 677,000. That's 44% of the entire non-DoD federal workforce.

Again, this power grab is not about the budget. It’s about politics.

The firehouse of misinformation always goes unchecked with Rogan and others. I want a podcast of play by play fact checking the alternate reality. You and many of your colleagues would be excellent! Mike Benz is off the charts on Rogan.

I was previously told by Republicans that the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan was one of history’s greatest scandals. But the chaotic withdrawal of *all* USAID from the whole globe?! Crickets.
Via Robbie Gramer at Politico, in a legal filing a USAID employee details trying to leave Kinshasa, Congo with their family and leaving their possessions behidn amid panic created by Trump and Musk's sudden shutdown of the agency

This is the way.
I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

@altnps.bsky.social My family has nearly finished our goal of visiting all 50 states. This has mostly been done through the NPS, and I’m concerned units will shut down. In particular those sharing our history so well regarding civil rights. Grateful to the countless staff who educated our kids.

In a nutshell, it’s pretty clear we’re being asked the same question past generations have had to answer. The Freedom Riders clearly had to rely on a power bigger than themselves to get on that bus. I pray to be humble and faithful enough to do so as well.
There were christians on both sides of the civil rights movement. Followers of Christ got on the bus and followers of something else terrorized and beat those on the bus. Simple as that. www.msn.com/en-us/societ...

Simply having equality across the tax base would prevent the need for the majority of Americans to retire later. Doesn’t this statement prove trickle down economics will benefit only a certain class of Americans? Higher earners have a fraction of income taxed for Social Security. 100% for most.
Rep. Mark Alford: "It's gonna mean cuts to the 24 percent of the discretionary spending that we have. And it's also going to mean looking long term at the front end of some programs like Social Security and Medicare ... we can move the retirement age back a little bit."

69 years ago today, the Montgomery Bus Boycott put America on notice: Black people were tired of giving in. This pivotal stand helped integrate public buses & ignited the Civil Rights Movement. It showed the power of unity & the demand for justice.
