This is really relatable. It’s nice to know that eating whole grains, fruits and protein-rich food is one of the best types of food for managing stress. While food with added sugar is one of the worst as it causes stronger cravings later on.

I plan to incorporate nutrition in my role as a future healthcare professional by encouraging healthy eating habits in patients and creating an supportive environment where they feel comfortable talking about their nutritional goals and fitness without feeling judged.

During finals week, I plan sticking to fast and easy to make meals such as noodles, dumplings, and sandwiches. They’re simple to make and don’t require too much time to prep or cook. Also, they can be nutritious depending on what you add to it.

I really like this advice. I feel like many times, people see wellness and healthy eating as something they have to drastically change overnight, but small simple changes are often just as effective if not better than big changes.

Wellness doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Small, simple changes—like drinking water (not just the fancy kind) and eating ANY fruit (yes, even pineapple after 3 PM)—can make a big impact. Check out my latest blog for 10 ways to simplify your health routine! 🔗 rebrand.ly/f8710e

I would give this article. The website is based on info from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health's nutrition department. They don't accept advertising or sponsorships. The article itself is simple, easy to read, and has cute graphics which is perfect for kids.

Wow, I knew Twinkies weren’t healthy, but I didn’t expect how much sugar are in just one Twinkie. 14 grams of sugar is equivalent to 3.5 teaspoons, which is more than half of what the American Heart Association recommends as the daily sugar limit for women (25 grams).

It’s super interesting many of the coffee alternatives listed are things I never thought had energy boosting benefits. For example, I never knew lemon water and bone broth had other benefits besides being a good source of nutrients and helping with digestion.

Tom’s method to losing weight made me realize that someone doesn’t need to always eat clean to change their lifestyle. If what they’re doing helps them stay consistent and works, then it doesn’t matter what method they use even if that method includes eating Chick-fil-a. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One fact that sticks to me is that fat shaming only makes people feel ashamed, anxious, depressed, and self-destructive. Many people think they’re offering tough love, but in reality, they aren’t doing anything but hurting someone’s self-confidence.

One barrier I relate to is lack of time to plan, shop, prepare and cook healthy foods. I feel too tired to cook after clinical. I also feel like it’s too time consuming so I end up eating something convenient or just skipping meals even though I know it’s not healthy @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Wow! That’s so cool. I never knew avocados can lower the odds of developing food allergies in infants. Is that due to the nutrients in avocados? Or something else? What’s the science behind that?

The article states that despite many Americans taking vitamins, vitamins did not reduce risk for heart disease, cancer, or mental declines later in life. Instead of spending money on vitamins, they recommended spending money on maintaining a healthy diet.

I also agree. Ultra-processed foods are often high in added sugar, unhealthy fats, and calories while lacking in nutrients. Their low cost contributes to issues like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Stronger regulations can help people make better dietary decisions.
@beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Most Americans want regulation of ultra-processed foods, and think the government should be more involved in our health.

It’s great that foods I love eating like kimchi, bananas, and beans can improve my gut health as well. Although it’s not the healthiest, I love adding kimchi on top of my ramen. I like the flavor it adds to my noodles and i’m glad to know it has other benefits as well 😄 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The keto diet is a low carb high fat diet with the goal to induce ketosis. This means that the body switches from using carbs as an energy source to the fat stored around the body. Some benefits of this diet include improved blood sugar and reduced inflammation. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I wasn’t surprised by my 24 hour food recall. I think it was easy and accurate because I’m sick so I haven’t really felt like eating. Normally, I eat something simple for lunch like toast and then whatever my parents make for dinner. Sometimes I eat a fruit afterwards. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I think it’s not surprising that many diets fail within the first 7 days. When starting a diet, many people focus on trying to seeing quick results instead of focusing on diets that are sustainable for their body and lifestyle. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
2 in 5 diets "fail" in the first 7 days.
But this isn't us failing.
It's the diets that fail us.

Highly restrictive diets aren't sustainable because of biology and life. Quitting a diet isn't a personal or moral failing. It's not that you just lack willpower, it's that the system sucks.
February 3, 2025 at 3:06 PM
I agree. A healthy weight varies from person to person. Factors like age, genetics, and overall health play a huge role in determining a person’s healthy weight. Focusing on how you feel and making a sustainable lifestyle is just as important as the number on the scale.

One fun fact I learned this week is that fiber, a type of carbohydrate, helps you feel full, which prevents overeating, lowers cholesterol levels, and feeds bacteria in your gut. Some great sources of fiber come from fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains.

One thing that I’ll look for when reading nutrition articles are whether the claims made are supported by credible, peer-reviewed research. Bold headlines such as “Eat this to lose weight fast” are red flags if they lack reputable evidence or studies to back it up.
